Dries Van Noten Spring 2015
Ophelia and A Midsummer Night’s Dream were cited influences, but I also spied the spices of the Grand Bazaar, the threads of Indonesian tapis cloth and Thai silks & gold cloth. Thanks once again, Mr Van Noten. Images from style.com. HF.

SuTurno
I don’t get much/any time anymore to peruse my old faves like sfgirlbybay, but am thrilled when I do, especially when it leads to posts like this one, Madrileño textiles SuTurno (Julia Vergara and Javier Gutierrez Bayo). My kind of palette, and all handcrafted by local artisans. When they’re not doing their own work, they provide designs to the likes of Marc Jacobs and Hoss Intropia. Ah, Madrid – it’s been too long. warp & weft
Did you know that there is a Japanese tartan? Designed by David McGill in 2008 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first treaty between Japan and the UK (1858) and the arrival of the ‘Scottish Samurai’ Thomas Blake Glover in Nagasaki (1859) and based on the sakura (cherry blossom) in Spring (second from top). I am wholly committed to a check or plaid – particularly those by Begg & Co. (scarf and loom, above) and their recent boom on the runways – Delphine Manivet at top, Thom Browne and Derek Lam above.
